FUNetix
As a UX Researcher for FUNetix’s Learn & Earn program, I conducted unmoderated remote usability testing with families to improve the digital reading app experience. I analyzed video data, user interviews, and assessments to track children's progress and identify usability issues. My work helped uncover insights to enhance engagement, interactivity, and overall learning outcomes for early readers in low-income communities. Due to confidentiality agreements, I am not permitted to share additional details or examples from this project.
Project Overview
-
Many young children, especially in low-income communities, struggle with low literacy rates, which can lead to long-term challenges in education and life. FUNetix addresses this by making early reading more accessible and engaging through a phonics-based app that teaches kids how to recognize letter sounds and read with confidence. By incorporating games and rewards, the app helps keep children motivated while building foundational literacy skills.
-
The goal is to improve literacy rates among young children, especially those from underserved communities who often lack access to high-quality, early educational resources.

As a UX Researcher for the Learn & Earn program, I led unmoderated remote usability testing to evaluate the digital FUNetix reading app. Using tools like Loop11 and Zoom, I gathered video data and feedback from families to observe how children learn to read within 12 hours. I analyzed assessments, user interviews, surveys, and testing sessions to identify usability issues and uncover opportunities to enhance engagement, interactivity, and the overall user experience. My insights directly informed design improvements for the FUNetix UX team.
